Mead & Hunt, Inc., a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, has a position available for an electrical designer in our Madison, Wisconsin office. This position’s responsibilities include designing electrical power, lighting, fire alarm, security (access control, intrusion detection, security cameras), communication systems (voice, data, paging), and other special systems associated with military, aviation, industrial and/or commercial buildings. Some travel may be required. The successful candidate must have an associate degree (or higher) in electrical design or related field and at least five years of relevant experience (buildings related), OR if no degree, must have at least seven years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate will be familiar with any/all of the following software: AutoCAD, lighting software (AGI preferred), power design software (SKM Power Tools preferred), word processing, and spreadsheet computer programs; LEED certification; RCDD certification; familiarity with the process involved in new and/or renovation building projects; knowledge of codes, statutes, and laws related to building design and construction. The ideal candidate will also be self-motivated; be able to handle a fast-paced position; have ability to work well under pressure; be goal- and deadline-oriented; possess good writing skills; have good organizational and communication skills; have good problem-solving ability; possess good listening skills; and have the ability to take and carry out instructions.
