Job Description for an electrician
1. Pulls conduit and wire.
2. Locates equipment such as electrical motors, components,
and circuit grounds.
3. Cleans electrical motor components, breakers, and switchgear.
4. Tests electrical circuits.
5. Lubricates equipment such as motors, fans, gears, and valves.
6. Checks batteries.
7. Checks and replaces fuses.
8. Checks circuit breakers, motors, and precipitators.
9. Installs cable.
10. Uses test equipment such as amp probe and multi-meter.
11. Operates mobile equipment such as boom truck, man-lift,
tractor, and forklift.
12. Installs and maintains power plant electrical and electronic
equipment and systems to ensure efficient operation.
13. Maintains electrical and electronic equipment in accordance
with preventative maintenance programs.
14. Troubleshoots and repairs electrical and electronic equipment.
15. Maintains and repairs tools and equipment required for
this position.
16. Assists with electrical and electronic equipment at the
Scrubber & Paper Mill Steam Supply site.
17. Two (2) year technical training or Associate degree in
electrical or electronics field preferred.
18. Three (3) years related experience preferred. Additional
technical training may substitute for a portion of the experience
requirement.
19. Knowledge of power plant process preferred.
20. Must be able to understand and interpret electrical diagrams,
schematics, and instructional manuals.
21. Must be knowledgeable in the use of electrical test equipment
and a variety of hand tools.
22. Must maintain a valid driver's license and live within
one hour of the plant.
23. This is an on-call position with a residential telephone
required; non-scheduled overtime is a normal part of the job.
24. Will be required to work around high voltage.
25. Regular climbing and work at heights on ladders and stairs
required, as well as above ground grating and platforms.
26. Work environment conditions include: noise, heat in excess
of 100 degrees, gas emissions, chemical vapors, dust, high-pressure
lines and voltage equipment.
27. Often lifting 20 lbs., regular lifting of 50 lbs and ocassional
lifting over 100 lbs.
28. Must pass an aptitude test; must follow procedures for
wearing a respirator and other protective equipment.
