Indicative duties: Installs, overhauls and maintains all sizes and types of power circuit breakers, switches, motors, transformers and other electrical power plant equipment. Tests for and locates faults on control, power and lighting circuits; potential and current transformer and switchboard wiring; motors and starters; and similar devices on AC and DC circuits. Assists and instructs junior employees in work procedures and safe work practices.Qualifications: Must have at least 3 years of electrician / wireman experience at the "journeyman" level. Knowledge of: Theory of electricity as related to installation and maintenance of electrical equipment. Materials, methods, practices, and tools used in installation and maintenance of transformers, oil switches, regulators, motors, generators, switchboards, and associated equipment. Safety rules and regulations and first aid procedures. Ability to: Apply electrical theory to practical applications as encountered in power plant maintenance. Read and interpret blueprints, specifications and wiring diagrams. Work safely on and around high voltage energized equipment. Perform heavy manual labor. Work on towers and racks as necessary. ENTRY LEVEL POSITION (Full-Time) We are currently seeking individuals interested in working as Apprentice Nuclear Plant Equipment Operators (ANPEO). This position involves a rotating 12-hour workday schedule, a strong mechanical aptitude, and solid work ethics. Salary: $27.503 per hour Qualifications: Knowledge of physics, which includes basic electricity, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics and thermal dynamics; basic chemistry mathematics, including the use of exponents, logarithms and statistical and graphic presentation of date; blueprint reading; English language; basic nomenclature and functions of nuclear power plant equipment and systems; general administrative policies and personnel practices of the nuclear generation station. Responsibilities: As instructed and directed, and according to a formalized program of classroom and on-the-job training, learn and perform duties and develop qualifications of a Nuclear Plant Equipment Operator (NPEO) by proceeding from less complicated to more difficult and responsible tasks. Formalized training program is administered in segments. Each segment consists of Fundamentals Training, Job-Related Systems Training, and on-shift Job Qualification Training. ANPEO will automatically be promoted to NPEO upon satisfactory completion of classroom and on the job training and demonstrated qualification to stand all NPEO shift positions. Preferences: Four years of related work experience and/or formal engineering education is preferred.
